Cell Phone Policy

We believe it is necessary for students to develop healthy relationships with devices in support of mental wellness. As such, we have implemented a district-wide cell phone policy to reduce distractions for both students and teachers and help create an environment more conducive to learning. Elementary and middle schools will practice “Away for the Day,” which means phones are turned off at the start of the day and not powered back on until the end of the day. At the high school level, cell phones and other electronic devices such as smart watches and tablets, must be turned off when class begins and not turned back on until the class ends. High schoolers will have access to their cell phones during passing periods and at lunch, as the number of students and size of campus makes preventing use much more difficult.
