CLIMB
CLIMB is Eagle County School District’s transition services offered for students aged 18-21 who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Transition services are coordinated, results-oriented activities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) designed to help students with disabilities move from high school to adult life. ECSD’s transition program helps students “climb” toward adult life with community-based, IEP-driven services focused on improving academic and functional achievement.
As part of special education services, CLIMB aims to help students prepare for adult life, including postsecondary education or training, workplace readiness, help with connecting with adult services, independent living instruction, and community participation. These services take into account each student's strengths, preferences, and interests, and can include classroom instruction, related services, community experiences, employment development, adult living objectives, and daily living skills.
Based on the student's needs, work schedule, and/or course schedule, transition services can take place at Colorado Mountain College, at their local high school, in their home, or out in the community. CLIMB students remain Eagle County School District students, regardless of where they receive services.
