Security Upgrades

Dear EVHS community,

We wanted to update and inform everyone of the security upgrades and changes that have been happening at EVHS.  Since the start of the school year we have been finishing some technology and infrastructures to include the following.

Door Monitoring
One of the last phases of our school's remodel was to get a new security system installed on our entrances.  Effective by the end of this week (December 14th) there will be a “buzz in” system in order to access the school.  What this means is that there is a silver station with a camera and button for you to push to enter at our three main daytime entrances (main office, health sciences building, and south parking lot entrance).  You will need to refer to the signs, look for the buzzing system, ring the doorbell and wait for someone to respond.
Please allow yourself a few extra minutes when coming to pick up, drop off, or enter the building as there could be a wait to enter the building.  Please also exercise as much patience as you can while we are all adjusting to this new change.

Hallway ScreenshotSecurity Cameras
Prior to this year we had an antiquated and insufficient camera system.  There was a limited number of security cameras that viewed only exterior parts of our campus.  We now have over 50 interior and exterior cameras that can see the public areas throughout our campus.  We now have far greater coverage for both the prevention and investigation of illicit activities in and around our building.

Campus Security
In addition to these technology upgrades we have hired a Campus Security Supervisor, Mr. Brown, who monitors those cameras, checks our exterior doors, and provides support to administration when investigating and dealing with security issues.  He provides another set of human eyes on our campus to monitor what is going on.  We also have Deputy Tad Degen who is assigned to the Gypsum schools as our School Resource Officer.  He is most often here during our high traffic times at the start of school, during lunch, and at the end of the day.

Thank you for understanding that this is all to help keep our students as safe as we possibly can.  Please don't hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.
