Capital Improvements Update

In 2023 Eagle County voters approved Ballot Question 5B which provided a $100million bond to Eagle County School District. These funds were earmarked for various projects both up and down the valley and run the gamut of infrastructure and safety updates to a new Gypsum Early Learning Center and more work force housing units to district staff. Thank you to the voters for showing their support and passing 5B. Construction on the new Gypsum Early Learning Center and Employee Housing Complex has begun. Designed by TAB Associates and DLR Group, and built by the joint venture of Haselden Construction Company (HCC) and RA Nelson, the new center and housing will expand early education options for local residents and add dedicated housing for school district employees.

Both the early learning center and housing sit on an existing Eagle County School District site, near to existing Gypsum Creek Middle School and Red Hill Elementary School. At its completion, the new Gypsum Early Learning Center will be able to accommodate 320 infants through pre-k children. The employee housing includes a 20-unit apartment building featuring 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units for rent with the potential for an additional apartment building.

The Gypsum Early Learning Center is expected to conclude in December of 2025, with the employee housing also being completed in December of 2025. There are also designs for future housing on the site which could come in subsequent building phases.

Please note that the bike path will be closed beginning September 9, 2024 and will remain closed through late spring of 2025. Please follow signs for detour.

Edwards Early Learning Center

Edwards Early Learning Center will see additional student capacity in it's upstairs level. Construction is underway to bring those classrooms to meet licensing requirements. Upon completion enrollment will be between 290-320 students.

Construction on the parking lot has begun and there will be limited parking throughout the duration of the project. Work began in August 2024 and is expected to run through November 2024. Please do not park in the circle drive as that is for families at pick-up and drop-off. There is additional parking on the upper lot toward Berry Creek and ECCA or across the street at RCHS East. Please remember to enter through the main entrance by the FlagPole. The buzzers at the other entrance go to classrooms and classroom teachers have been instructed not to let anyone in who they do not know as part of increased focus on safety.

This is changing on a daily basis so will try to keep you updated on big changes.

Renovation work of the interior will begin in November of 2024 and is slated for completion in July of 2025. This work will go on while working around everyday operations.

Maloit Park

Maloit Park will be the future home of upwards of 130 units. Currently ECSD is working with Minturn, current residents and our architects and construction company to develop the best path forward.

The initial phase of construction will include utilities and grading for new residential development and is expected to start in Spring/Summer 2025.

Safety and Security Upates

With the hiring of a new safety and security director we have updated our terminology during emergency actions.
Many schools ground level windows will be wrapped with 3M protective film slowing down a potential intruders ingress to our campuses.
On-going staff training and communication protocol reviews to ensure staff are aware of all safety actions in the case of an emergency.
