Official Candidates - Board of Education School Board Director Election

Five School Board Director seats will be elected at the November 2021 election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, one each for District A, B, E, F, and G. Director seats for District C and D are currently held by Dr. Ted R. Long and Lucila Tvarkunas respectively, and their terms do not expire this year. All school directors are voted on at-large, meaning eligible electors of the school district vote for one candidate from each director district.

The regular biennial school board election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. More information is available at the Eagle County Elections website.
Eagle County School District (ECSD) has established a director district plan of representation. All school directors are voted on at large (i.e., eligible electors of the school district vote for one candidate from each director district). Five (5) School Board Director seats will be elected at the November 2021 election.

Director G:  Currently held by Shelly Jarnot

Serving as an ECSD Board of Education School Board Director is a volunteer position. Board of Education Directors can run and serve two consecutive four-year terms. Regular Board Meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.  A work session and/or an executive session (a closed session) may be held preceding the Regular Board Meeting. Variations to this schedule may occur, and Special Meetings may be called as determined by the President of the Board.  School Board Directors also serve on one or more committees that meet periodically throughout the school year.

Board Member Candidate Qualifications

Pursuant to Colorado State Statutes, a candidate for the office of school director:
  • Shall be a registered elector of Eagle County School District for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the election;
  • Shall be a resident of the director district for which he or she is a candidate at the time of filing the notice of intention and supporting petition; and
  • Shall not have been convicted of, plead guilty or nolo contendere to, or received a deferred judgment and sentence for a sexual offense against a child.
