Red Canyon West High School–Ribbon Cutting Jan. 9, 2019

Eagle County Schools will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for Red Canyon West High School on January 9, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. The new building is conveniently located at 395 McGregor Drive in Gypsum, behind the Spring Creek Campus. The Spring Creek Campus houses Eagle County Schools’ departments of transportation and technology, plus an operational automotive shop used in partnership with Colorado Mountain College for automotive repair classes.

The new Red Canyon West building spans 12,500 square feet and incorporates advanced learning spaces for STEM and career skills programs, as well as private counseling and special education spaces to help students grow in and out of the classroom. Eagle County Schools was previously leasing a small space off Broadway in Eagle for students to attend classes.

In addition to providing the students with a much-needed flexible and collaborative learning environment, the new building also houses a new Board of Education meeting room, which doubles as a professional development training space for Eagle County Schools staff.

Red Canyon joins Eagle Valley Elementary, Eagle Valley Middle, and Eagle Valley High School in the running list of completed building projects as a result of the voter-approved 3B bond initiative. The community overwhelmingly voted in support of 3B back in the fall of 2016, which enabled significant facility upgrades to ensure community schools meet the needs of our growing student population.

“We would like to thank the community for voting in support of the bond,” said Troy Dudley, principal of both Red Canyon facilities. “A new building speaks volumes to our students about the confidence our community has in them.”

Movers will transfer classroom equipment from the downtown Eagle leased space to the new building over the winter break, which will allow Red Canyon West students and staff to ring in the new year in their new building.
