EVHS Announces 2019 National Merit Commended & Semifinalist Winners

2019 National Merit® Scholarship Program

EVHS wants to congratulate our Class of 2019 students who are being recognized by the SAT/National Merit Scholarship (PSAT/NMSQT®).  From approximately 1.6 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants.
Congratulations to…
  • Avery Doan - Commended Scholar
  • Luke Morrissey - Commended Scholar
  • John Papadopoulos - Semifinalist
Today officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  The remaining 34,000 students met the criteria as Commended Scholars for their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.
The Semifinalist, who represent a variety of academically talented high school seniors, have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
This is the second consecutive year that EVHS has students moving forward in the Merit Scholarship program.  We are proud of their accomplishments and all that they do to represent EVHS.
