Eagle-Vail, CO -- Eagle County Schools is pleased to announce that Battle Mountain High School (BMHS) was one of over one hundred schools across the United States and Canada to receive a free DyKnow Classroom. BMHS was awarded the classroom as part of a giveaway that will allow schools to experience the educational benefits of technology-enhanced teaching and learning without financial obligation.
Through the award, BMHS will receive DyKnow Vision®, interactive education software, DyKnow Monitor®, classroom management software, and other services totaling nearly $3,000. DyKnow software is currently used by thousands of educators in K-12 and Higher Education institutions worldwide.
BMHS will specifically use the software to instruct math courses. The first class to use DyKnow will be Mr. Bunting’s ‘Math-For-Life’ class during the first trimester of the 2009-10 school year. This class will be taught every day using DyKnow Vision® and DyKnow Monitor®, which will allow significant interaction between the teacher and the students. For example, the teacher can have students respond to prepared questions and in turn be provided with immediate results to determine the extent of understanding by the students.
“This software will also allow me to poll students at various times during the class period in order to determine their level of comprehension of the material being presented,” states Chuck Bunting, BMHS Math Teacher. “In addition, the software supports tablet PCs, enabling me to be able to solve math problems directly on my computer. The students will then save the computer-based lessons and the instructor’s notes. The key here is that they will be able to retrieve the notes from any computer in the world and use them to review the lessons, complete homework and ultimately study for tests.”
The software will also be used by teachers in a regular classroom without computers. While the students will not have instantaneous computer communication with the teacher, teachers will save the notes and the lessons and students will be able to access the detailed, specific lesson that was taught on any given day.
“It is a privilege to work with educators who are committed to discovering new teaching and learning possibilities through technology,” said Laura Konkle, DyKnow President. “Each of the awarded schools has a defined plan for leveraging DyKnow software and we look forward to supporting their efforts as new teaching and learning possibilities are realized through the technology.”
